On October 14, 2014, the American multinational information technology corporation, Hewlett Packard Company, was awarded a $50 Million Medicaid contract. Awarded by the Massachusetts Executive Office of Health and Human Services (EOHHS) the contract calls for an extension of an already existing contract that was awarded in 2005. The original contract called for the development and implementation of the Commonwealth’s HP interchange MMIS, which replaced the Commonwealth’s legacy Medicaid system.
The HP system features a web based application and implantation of shared services. Services include enterprise identity management along with electronic payments to support the link of health records and program controls. Continuing the contract, the EOHHS extended HP’s support for an additional 5 years with the agreement ending in June 2019.
Established in 1939, Hp Company is one of the largest information technology corporations in the world. Founded by Bill Hewlett and Dave Packard, the company started off in a one car garage and is now an employer of over 317,000 people. Having met over $111 Billion in yearly revenue, Hewlett Packard is the world’s second largest Desktop PC vendor and supplies products to consumers, business, and large enterprises alike. In addition to general consumers, customers include the government, health, and education sectors.
